Milliways - The Restaurant at the End of the Universe

Anyone would love this place to become real. I mean, just imagine the Pan Galactic Gargle Blasters being real. You would have so many people so stoned drunk that even the little kids would be laughing at their "stupidity".

But anyway, since the HitchHiker's Guide to the Galaxy is finally becoming a movie. (though Adams writes it as soon to be released in the introduction he wronte in 1986) There are enough fans out there to warrent a sequel. Lets just hope the fans see the movie. But besides that, I bet you a version of Milliways will be built at any Disney park in the future because it is such a great and yet real concept. I mean, sure you can't actually travel to the end of the universe, but it can recreated in a soundstage especially if the sequel is made because then the actual movie set could be used.

Lets say, instead of just walking into a soundstage to the waiting area have a time transport instead. When guests are ready to travel to the "future" they board the transport and like on the Star Trek experience, and brought to a completly different room due to well timed lighting and really fast moving walls. Here there would be the bar, waiting area, and of course the entrance to the restaurant. Beautiful Chandeliers are hung above to a low ceiling and everything really screams both Sci-fi and Five-Star at the same time.

The main dining area is based below a large, nearly complete, golden dome. All the tables are then based around a central stage. At the end of the tables, screens and mirrors make the actually restaurant appear 1000 times as big as it really is. A live band (hopefully real but AA could be done too) plays some light music with a host showing off the ceremony. Everybody would be treated to some very "Alien" foods but don't expect a large dairy animal coming in asking to be killed so you can eat it. (scare the children... well really everybody but Hitchhiker fans.... well maybe the fans would be scared too). The food would be top quality. Best at all of WDW. The alcohol would be great too with something called the Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster but does not actually make you so stone drunk that it is like you have been crushed by the Earth itself. Other drinks could include something that tastes almost but not quite intirely unlike tea.

The show itself would use a simple Omnimax projector to bring in the action of the exploding universe on the gold dome.

Now because of the nature of the attraction, it would actually run different from other restaurants. Say 60-90 minute periods would be assigned to where the guests made reservations to. Begining of the period, all the guests would be allowed in, at the end of the period, they would all leave. So in a sense, the universe will end at the end of every meal. But I guess the attraction would need massive seating. I would say Tommorowland would be out of the question unless there was enough demand to gut Space Mountain to fit in Milliways in the entire mountain. Or at Disney MGM Studios, there are a couple nice empty soundstages awaiting use. Not as big but they can be combined or such. (Perhaps actually 2 restuarants adjacent to each other? sharing 1 kitchen?).

The best choice would be to move the entry road to the park and build a nice new and large soundstage to the specifications needed for the Restaurant. It would also might be good to wait and see if a movie is ever made because even though all the forms of the story contradict each other, a contradicing restuarant would be something many could not handle.

 That's funny... I totally thought that it sounded like a theme restaurant waiting to happen! It would be great in Downtown Disney! :)
