Millenium Village: What Happened? Is it coming back?

Does anyone on the inside know the scoop about Millenium Village? What happened to that building? It must be still somewhat operational because we see groups of tours going back there just about every time we are at Epcot. What I can't figure is why it isnt an ongoing display to the public.

Have there been any talks about bringing something like Millenium Village back? Obviously the Millenium Theme is dated ... but that could be changed to "International Gateway" or something.

ive never heard of it before but i searched it on yahoo and the link was for this site and it said that the millenium village was between the uk and canada pavillion at epcot. when i was there for new years between the uk and canada was a big band thing -i think it was for people who had paid for a big band dinner package or something but then again by the toilets in the uk (by canada) there is a wide brown gate where people with certain passes kept going and CM's but i dont know what was behind there maybe storage or something.:)

if what i think you are talking about, is the same thing i am thinking about. then when i was a cast member last year its used for special events. during the food and wine festival it was used for "Party of the Senses" and im sure it will have special purposes for the flower and garden festival. beyond that, i have no clue.

This is the building you are speaking of correct?:

That is definately the one! Thanks for showing me the super cool arial photo. I have seen Google Earth ... but that actually looks better.

It seems like this building would have been "rethemed" not just cast aside for special events etc. Know what I mean?

I thought that they would continue and have rotational "country" expos from this building where they could showcase countries that didn't necessarily want to build a whole giant pavilion.

yes, i was linked to it in various threads, and have been browsing the site. its really neat to go broswing around epcot. and for any location in the park, you can pretty much get 4 different angles of whatever you want to see. i think i remember them taking these photos, because last year when i was a cast member, there was ALWAYS a helicopter flying around the park. taking many different photos. it always puzzled me ^^;

I was in it last October for the first time when I went to Party For The Senses. It was also just used on the food network for a chef cook/bake off competition. Quite huge.

i wonder if there is a fence between the yacht and beach club and EPCOT. looks like you could just cut through the grass and wind up at the back of the millineum villiage.

yah. i myself have never been in the place. but i remember walking next to it when working at the food and wine festival. reminded me of a circus. which...i believe they had cirqeu de soleil. but im not sure if they were also in that building, or it was at the DTD theatre.

im surprised that no one else has browsed around using that "live" site. ive brosed the amgic kingdom, and animal kingdom, as well as epcot. brings back some awsome memories ^_^ even though they were only a few months ago ^^;

Back in 2004 I was in WDW for a company meeting/celebration. We used that building for our meetings. Kind of a bummer to see something that was used to good effect in 2000 as the Millennium Village turned into a multi-purpose facility like that. Decidedly unmagical.
