Military tickets

My father in law is a retired general in the national guard. He has mentioned buing is some DW tickets for Christmas on the military discount. I've read that the person would have to be with you on the trip. Does anybody know how strict they are about this or if maybe we had a receipt and a copy of his military id if that might work. I've been when I was a child but this would be my kids first time.

Yes, they have to activate the tickets in person.
