Military Discount Questions

We are looking into a september trip for 4 people. One of the party members is military and looking at the prices for Shades of Green, we might just add that to our options.

But, if the dining plan was offered free during our time period, would we still be able to get it if we stayed at SoG? If not, could we add it on? Or nothing at all?

Also, about how much do 5 day park hoppers run for military? And to use them, does that person have to be with you every time you use your ticket (like if 2 of us wanted 1 park and the other 2 another, could the 2 non-military still get in) or just the first use for proof of ID?

We are doing some number crunching, comparing SoG and what you can and can't get to other resorts (value and mod, since we would need 3 beds) and what you can get there and seeing what's the best option, cost-wise.

Anything else military-related that I should know, just let me know! This is the first time we've had someone Military with us going to Disney.

Thanks :)

They dont have 5 day park hoppers. They are 4 day park hoppers and run 156 no tax at your itt office. You can buy them at the park or shades of green also but will pay tax. Either way you have to activate them at the gate the first time you use them so that iscwhen the military person will need to be with you. They dont id for military everytime you go into a park. Google "disney miltary salute' and you will get the link to the disney page which gives the rules and more details on who can use what.

Also, if you want to go longer you can get 2 4 day passes. There is a limit though on how many the militarybperson can get so just reviewcthe rules on the website.

Im pretty sure the dining plan will not go with the shades of green as a package. I have stayed at the SoG before and it is a very nice hotel. Its just not "Disney." The transportation was very slow, but this was in 2007. The prices you would get are amazing and there is a military ITR office in the resort (military ticket sales). What have donw in the past to save money is build a complete package, then my wife went into a military ticketing office (its like our personal vaca planners) and have them build the same package and call to get all the military discounts across the board. We did this on our last trip and saved 600 dollars. We had our packet mailed to our home and just showed up at the Coranado. If you have any other military questions you can pm me.

Disney is offering discount for September for military on rooms. You can add the dining to that at full price. Since you would be getting room discount you can't get the free dining offer. You could still buy the 4 day military tickets.

You do not have to have the military member with you to use the tickets. They work just like normal park tickets. Unless things have changed, you will not be able to buy the dining plan with those tickets. I met up with my mom and her friend in WDW back in 2009. They got a hotel/ticket package through Disney, and I bought my ticket at my base's ITT office. I was staying with them at POR, and I wanted to buy the dining plan since they had it. I was told by the people at the desk that you could only get the plan if you got your tickets through Disney, regardless of whether you were staying at a resort or not. So, if you really want the dining plan, you probably shouldn't stay at SoG.

If you book a military discounted room at a Disney resort, you can add any of the dining plans. You cannot add tickets. Military spouse here. We use the discount often. Ask away:)
