My husband served and has been honorably discharged for about 28 years now. His military card gets us into the commissary etc. can this also be used for discounts at Disney World? If so, what kind of discounts?

  • "Eligible Service Members" are active or retired members of the U.S. Military, including the National Guard, Reservists, the U.S. Coast Guard, the Commissioned Corps of the Public Health Service (PHS), and the Commissioned Corps of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). Spouses of Military Service Members also qualify if they are able to present valid and active U.S. Military IDs in the absence of active or retired Military Personnel or Commissioned Corps Members.

They say Retired or Active, they also let Veterans make reservations in Sept and January. Why they would not let WW2 and others who have served in Combat is beyond me, they also should be able to go anytime, check Shades of Green site for more info , its the onsite hotel, they have website...

That’s only at Shades of Green that you can stay as a regular vet in January and Sept. Disney Military Salute room discounts (40% off deluxe, 35% off mods, 30% off values) for all WDW resorts (not SOG) and Military Salute tickets get no exceptions any of the year. (But if you have access to a base by having a military ID card you can get those at least) But yes at Shades of Green all vets can book in January and Sept only. My hubby does not qualify he only served 10 years active in Army (including war time in Iraq and Bosnia) and no bother to us that he’s not included. It’s a wonderful offer for those that do qualify and they don’t have to do this but they do and that’s awesome! I always spread the word for all those who do qualify. :)

Don't you have an ID as well?

I am married to retired military. We found that the Disney military rates were better than Shades of Green rates. We stayed at All Star Sports this past December and the room was very reasonable. Park tickets are very inexpensive also.
