Mid January?

Contemplating a short trip to the World mid January 2012. We are from the north so anything above 40 will feel warmer to us. I'd be interested in what sort of weather you have run into mid January. Thanks!!

We went this past January (9th-15th) and it was great. We too are from up north so getting away from the snow was great. The weather was pretty nice, in the morning and later at night it was chilly, but we were fine with sweatshirts. My DH wore shorts every day, and I wore jean capris and flip flops. One day I wore a long sleeved shirt and was sweating by mid afternoon. The only time I was really cold was when we were waiting for Fantasmic to start. There was technical difficulties so we had to sit and wait about a half hour to 45 minutes after the show was going to start and sitting on the metel bleachers was starting to make our bottoms numb, but we had a blanket with us so we put it over our legs and grabbed a hot chocolate from the concession stand and it was fine. The only thing that we did not like about January was that one of our favorite rides (Splash Mountain) was closed for its annual refurb, and the large amount of Brazilian tour groups. Other than that the crowds were pretty low, we arrived the last day of the marathon weekend so after the first day most rides were walk on. Overall we enjoyed going in January.

We were there this passed January. We got cold weather, but not like the north. Here it all depends on when the cold fronts arrive. But its always cold in the mornings and at night. We actually had some days that was entirely cold.

We went in January 2010 and probably won't risk doing the same again. There was record-breaking cold in central Florida that year. It was actually colder in Orlando than it was back home in New Jersey the week we were down. There were reports of sleet and snow in the area on the morning of the marathon that year. I wouldn't say we were miserable because it's still Disney, but it was disappointing. I understand that what we experienced was, like, historic, but just know that bitter cold can happen.
