We are planning on going to the party the middle of November! We will be attending on a Friday. This will be our first time seeing Disney all decked out for the holidays! Does anyone know how many tickets they sell? What kind of crowds can I expect? On the crowd calander I checked MK was the recommended park of the day at a level 3. Also are all the rides in te park still open or are the attractions limited like EMH?

I believe all of the major rides remain open for the party. I am not sure about crowds but I hear back and forth reviews about this subject.. how they sell too many tickets and it is wall to wall crowds and some parties the crowds aren't even bad. I think the closer to Christmas the party is, the more crowded it is.

We bought tickets to the very first party 11/8 for this year! I am excited to do this for the first time! :D

The last time we went was the Friday before Thanksgiving and the crowds were not bad at all. It's a great time to go, and the party was lots of fun. I've found these posts by touringplans to be very helpful in predicting crowds for specific party dates. Generally, the ones right before and after Thanksgiving, and those closer to Xmas, are the most crowded.

Fridays are more crowded than the Tuesday party dates by a long shot.

Just for reference, we did the Xmas party twice during our 09 Dec trip. The Friday party was packed (12-9) and we talked to a manager. He said that the party was NOT sold out. Then we did another party that following Tuesday and it WAS sold out but was maybe half of the crowd. I think the first party was not controlled well by the CMs/managers, because there was NO spot checking for bands.

Overall, it's a great event, but we find that we like the Halloween party much better! Have fun!

I went on a Friday night this past December, the week before Christmas and it was awesome. It was pretty crowded but the line flow was good on the attractions. I'd say staking out spots for the parade was the most crowded part but that was poor planning on our part. My best friend and I had dinner at the Grand Floridian Cafe beforehand and got to see the gingerbread house and awesome tree in the GF lobby before heading over. It's definitely worth stopping by before if you have time.

From what I was told they will tickets equal to the capacity of the parade route. As I understand it that is about 20k tickets. Depending on who you ask this is about 20%-30% of the capacity of the park. What is odd is that the park will seem a lot more crowded than it actually is. This is because virtually every person in the park that night will attend the parade and fireworks. This puts everyone in the same place at the same time and makes it feel crowded. The park really starts to clear out after the fireworks and most attractions will be walk on.

This link will take you to the 2012 MVMCP map which has all of the open restaurants, attractions, etc. It is a fairly safe bet that 2013 will be the same.

For my December trip, I got my party ticket for a Tuesday. Hope things work out the same as it did for you, crowd wise.
