Is there a reason the plates are able to come off? Because almost every time I've stayed on property the plate has fallen off. I once did see a cm with a computer and something attached to a USB, doing something to the chip behind the plate.

The snap on connectors are probably just worn out, or not snapped back on completely.

When they were first installed and KttW cards were still in heavy use people used to pry them off to try to insert their card into the locks.
