Mickey Mouse Waffle Iron

Okay, the last trip we were at Disney we bought a Mickey Waffle Iron. We love it!!!!!! It reminds us so much of our little mickey waffles we get there all the time. The one thing we wanted to know is if anyone has some creative waffle recipes that you can use for it. We only have a couple from the book that came with it and we're looking for something a little more creative. Does anyone have anything out there that they've tried on their Mickey Waffler?

My dad bought one a few years back and we had it until my sister dropped it and broke it. But when we had it, we used recipies for waffle mix that we found on the web. Try www.foodtv.com and see what to can find

Enjoy!

I have the mini mickey waffler (4 at a time). I've tried the recipe that they supplied and that's as close to the ones they serve in Disney. I've always wanted to know thier recipie, but don't know where i'll find it. I've searched foodtv plenty of times, but nothing comes close. IMO, I believe that beaten egg whites are the key ingredient in the recipe.

Here's the book recipe...
4 eggs, separated
1 cup milk
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt (optional)
2 cups flour
1/4 cup butter or margarine, melted
1 tablespoon sugar
1 taspoon vanilla (optional)

Beat egg yolks and sugar in a bowl until light. Add cooled melted butter, milk and vanilla extract. Add flour, baking powerd & salt, beat well. Beat egg whites until stiff and gently fold into batter. Bake and serve.

Which one did you get? Some of the Mickey Waffle Irons have Mickey's face on both sides. On other models one side has Mickey's face and the other side has Mickey's hand! We have the later version. We make giant grilled cheese sandwiches in our machine. We use big pieces of marble rye and pumpernickle bread and put about 1/4 lb. of Baby Swiss cheese in the middle. And yes, we make waffles too! :slurp:

Hi!

Hello, fellow waffle-lover. I have long coveted the Mickey waffle iron. Sigh.

I do have a great book that has just waffle and pancake recipes---it's called "the Best of Waffles and Pancakes" by Jane Stacey.
It has recipes for sweet and savory pancakes and waffles. One of my favorite recipes from it is for Pear-Almond Waffles (for something really unique)

2 c flour
1/2 c toasted almonds
1/3 c sugar
1 3/4 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
1 1/4 c milk
3 large eggs, separated, at room temperature
3 T butter, melted
1/2 tsp almond extract
1 ripe medium pear, peeled, cored and chopped

In a medium size bowl, combine the first 6 ingredients. In another medium size bowl, whisk together the milk, egg yolks, butter and almond extract. Pour this mixture into the dry ingredients, stirring with a few quick strokes to form a lumpy batter. Stir in the chopped pear.
In yet a third medium size bowl, using an electric mixer set on high, beat the egg whites until still peaks form. Using a rubber spatula, gently and thoroughly fold the egg whites into the batter.

Lightly spray or grease the waffle iron. Following the manufacturer's instructions, spoon about 1/4 c of the batter onto the hot iron and spread it almost to the corners of the grid. Close and bake about 2-3 minutes, or until done. Transfer the waffles to a warm oven, placing them directly on the rack so they will remain crisp. Repeat with the remaining batter. Makes 6-8 waffles (when I make them, it ends up nearer 8).
These are really yummy---I usually end up doubling the recipe and putting some in the freezer---they do really well, and you can heat them up in the toaster if you have to.

I can´t believe you all get so excited about waffles! :animwink:

I don´t have the Mickey Waffle Iron, but I think I should get it for my 2 year old nephew...

My parents took him for breakfast to this place where he always goes with his parents, but this time, his parents weren´t with them. They ordered waffles for him and when they came, my parents were surprised to see my nephew´s bummed face and then heard him say: "but there´s no Mickey...."

My dad had no idea they made them with the Mickey face. :)

BEER WAFFLES

1-1/2 Cups sifted all-purpose flour
1 Tbsp. sugar
1/4 Tsp. salt
4 Eggs
1-1/2 Cups Beer, poured into a bowl and allowed to rest for 5 min.
2 Tbsp. vegetable oil
2 Tbsp. butter, melted
1 Tsp. fresh lemon juice, strained

In bowl, combine dry ingredients. Stir together.

Break 4 eggs in large bowl, add beer, oil, butter, and lemon juice. Beat together with a whisk for 2 minutes.

Sift flour mixture into liquids while whisking. Work fast and don't overmix; tough waffles will result. The batter should be rather thin - about like medium cream.

Bake as usual, filling the waffle iron as full as possible without overflow. This batter should be used at once to produce the lightest, crispest waffles.

I also enjoy putting in about 3 or 4 tablespoons of peanut butter sometimes in place of the butter. Oh yes and berries. Pick the berry(s) of your choice and throw it (them) in too. Very good.

HAHA!
Thats the one we use too!

Sure am glad the others posted some new ideas to try!

My only suggestion for improvement for the Mickey Mouse Waffle iron is that it should have more "heating lines" and fewer large open spaces that often don't get as nice a golden color as the parts that have more "heating lines".

Does that make sense?
