Over on Mouseplanet in todays update they mention that Mickey Avenue will soon be closing for facade work for Toy Story Mania. They also mention that there are rumors that the whole street may possibly be rethemed. Has anyone heard anything about this.

Sounds interesting. Perphaps they are going to turn the area from low-key to high profile. They obviously want to draw large crowds to the attraction and the large front seems to indicate they want to give a strong image. I can see the character trailers being scrapped or re-located, otherwise with large numbers heading down there before LMA shows it could become a bottle neck at peak times.

Will they move the Mickey character greeting area? That was always the best, least crowded place to visit Mickey, because no one seemed to know it was there.

Well..... they didn't have any bid lines open when they did the last round of entertainment bids. So read into that what you will.

There hasn't been anything mentioned for us residents of Mickey Avenue, but we all know that they don't exactly tell CMs anything really and sometimes the internets catches things quicker than we do.

Either way, I see no problem with them actually closing the street. There is nothing on there from where the bathrooms next to Toy Story are to the entrance to the Backlot Tour (Besides the Movie Trailers which could easily be closed and have the Playhouse characters M&G elsewhere). Merchandise could also be moved and as far as I know they sell the same crap in the Animation Courtyard anyways..

The days are numbered and soon we will no longer have our beloved Mickey Avenue with not a single person walking through there and hoping no one comes into any of our attractions for the remainder of the day...

The characters on the street are all moving to the Streets of America. Mickey will do an intermittent meet and greet at the Sorcer's Hat. This is all temporaty until construction is done o the new ride facade, but no news if Mickey will be returning or not.

Not all.... Those awful trailers are heading for the scrapheap and the Playhouse characters are going over by Playhouse.

I can think of a couple of places in the Animation Courtyard/Playhouse Disney area that would work fine for M&G's with the characters.

It would take moving a few things around but I could see it happening. Mickey used to do meet n greets in 2000 in that area.

There isn't a lot of space on the street for a major re-theme. I mean, maybe change the layout of the path...some kind of landscaping work...and maybe even do away with the stairs that sorta block view of that path as you walk in to the park...

What else can they do? Rename it to Pixar Street? :lookaroun

I know that they are at different elevations but I'd like a better transition/traffic flow from MGM's hub out in front of the GMR and Mickey Ave. I hate that wall that separates the two areas.

Something definitely should be done with this street. While it's nice to have no wait for Sorceror Mickey, at the same time, it's a little sad.
