Didn't see this anywhere else - sorry if it's a duplicate thread:

From TMZ - apparently Disney didn't notify staff before they released news and Kelly Ripa is not pleased:

Kelly Ripa did not show up for her TV show Wednesday ... and our ABC sources say this may just be the first in a string of absences. Our sources tell us Kelly made the decision shortly after she was informed Strahan was bailing on her show to co-host "Good Morning America." We broke the story Kelly was told at 10:30 AM Tuesday, just as the announcement was being blasted out to the media ... and she was outraged. We're told Kelly feels disrespected and humiliated that she wasn't given the courtesy of a heads-up. Our sources say she may not show for the foreseeable future. Michael walked onstage Wednesday with Ana Gasteyer, and he made light of the move. The 'Live' staff is furious at Disney and CEO Bob Iger's decision to keep them in the dark.

If true that is really rude. You tell his current show he's leaving then tell the press.
only if you have people skills. I'm not a fan of that show, but this really was handled poorly. Apparently Strahan was told (by Iger) not to say anything to anyone, including the staff of the show.

While that was pretty low of Disney to keep Kelly in the dark about all this, she could've handled the situation with more courtesy & professionalism herself. What would happen to any of us if we were to suddenly abandon our jobs for a spontaneous week's vacation, all because we weren't informed of a co-worker's planned departure? I'm not saying she doesn't have good reason to be upset, but it certainly could have been handled better on both sides.

Congrats to Strahan for landing a bigger gig. Now the big question is...who will be his full-time replacement once he leaves? What's Regis up to these days?

Someone on the radio was saying they "heard" that Disney has been toying with the idea of expanding Good Morning America to a fourth hour, with Strahan anchoring that hour, which would mean they were looking for a way to squeeze Kelly out. Obviously they could have heard this from a bus driver, but with her extreme reaction, she's either a total diva or knows something we don't (or secret answer "c").

He already worked at GMA, at least fairly regularly. I have seen him sometimes go directly from one show to the other.

So, in a way it was not a surprise... BUT I do think that it was rude not to tell Kelly and Gellman and the staff well before distributing the news to the press. Classless. It's not like it wasn't within the "family" of ABC, and thus easy to have handled that way.

There was an article the other day stating how Kelly doesn't like him to begin with, and thinks he's disrespectful to her.

Welcome to the reality that 'regular' folks have in their workplace Kelly.

AGREED.

Get a grip Kelly. If my coworker gets fired, or promoted, management does not come to me first with the news. Strahan probably jumped at the idea for more money and to get away from Kelly, who is a very poor host and interviewer.
