So, I just got off of POTC and the mermaid song from Pirates 4 was playing in the first scene. Additionally bubbles were on the side of the boat. Finally, there was a boat with a mermaid skeleton. Is this new? I do not recall these items a few months ago.

Yes they are new! Next time feel free to use the handy WDWmagic search bar. A simple search of "mermaids in potc" brings up a few other threads already discussing this.
