Mermaid Lagoon at TDS

I recently watched the Travel Channel special on Tokyo Disney Seas. Made me want to get on a plane for Japan immediately. While the park looks incredible, Mermaid Lagoon looks like a land full of attractions that would get boo-ed and jeered at if they were added to the Disney parks state side. Yes, the whole concept looks fantastic, but it's full of off the shelf kiddie rides, themed-up by the imagineers (with the exception of the Little Mermaid show). I'm surprised that this hasn't been discussed anywhere.

Personally, if this was in the states, I don't think it would be booed and hissed because it is a VERY well themed land with THEMED rides and attractions. I cannot name one show that really compares to the Mermaid Show there, other than Encore! and Sail Away. I cannot name one kiddlie land that is so themed (although I've seen more adults there than other places). The place is fun and very well done. Regardless of where it is, I don't think you would see a major complaint. - The WEirdOne :D

I agree Steve. They did a great job with the area, not skipping one detail. I love the fact that its all "underwater" but it still disturbs me that it's all carnival rides. They are better themed than California IMO. However, it is aimed at primarily little kids who could care less.

I love the show..It looks fantastic. The Japanese must really love sit down shows a lot more than Americans, cause they put a real lot of effort into it.

I wish they had built that Little Mermaid Dark Ride that was designed for Paris. It had a system similiar to the new 20k Leagues Under the Sea ride over there. It would be a nice addition.
