We all remember the balloon incident & commented on how well she held her own..
While looking around Instagram I stumbled upon Merida's friend & learned she is from Texas & rode rodeo
Rode in other horse events & Medieval times too. This answers all questions about her skills

I suspect she had placed on her resume/ job application that she had prior work experience with horses and maybe she requested a position of handling them on the job. Its fortunate that Disney did the right thing and had her in the proper place so when the incident occurred, there was a capable person there. Well done Disney for utilizing a persons abilities and skills and especially well done unnamed CM for keeping the situation under control.
