I hear Merida is going to be offically a princess on May 11, 2013. 9:30 Magic Kingdom

Is that something we should plan on seeing during the trip? Or will their be so much Media there is not worth watching?

Anyone experience anything like that?

Definitely happening. Also, consumer products would like to see Sofia crowned as #12 sooner than later. This may be a surprise on the 11th

Yay for Merida!! I still need to see that movie :(. I am a little puzzled that this is happening almost a year after the movie was released... why wait so long, especially when Merida has already been in the parks for a while now.

I think you answered your own question there. My guess is they waited to either maintain or increase interest in Merida and Brave.

They did the same thing with Rapunzel, here coronation was almost a year after Tangled came out.

Not all Disney Princesses make it. I guess they want to make sure the character is popular enough to join the official "Disney Princess" Line

So, does this mean that she'll also be eventually worked into a princess meal? I think it would be neat if Akershus used a different set of princesses than Cindy's Royal Table. Also, I think she would be a great fit at the UK pavilion (swapping out with Alice / Mary Poppins, who hang out there now (outside of Pooh and Tigger in the back of the shop)...

Brilliant. I hope someone at WDW reads your post and makes it happen. ;)

This event is solely the responsibility of Disney Consumer Products; they just happen to be having it in a park. Tiana's coronation was in NYC, Rapunzel's in London, etc. Merida and Rapunzel should eventually join dining rotations because of their popularity, but that would be a totally separate decision.
