I was gonna post lotsa little threads, but then I figured I might as well post all of it together.
Anyways, if you saw the Epcot EMH thread you know the shops in World Showcase were open. Epcot EMH was fun, we got to eat France right after Illuminations (we literally turned around, walked in, and were seated with our ressie for 9:30). Did you know at the Living Seas they shut off the lights in the main tank at night? Well, it's interesting to walk around in there when it's all pitch-black. The sharks are really active and you can see the illuminated windows to the VIP rooms and such.
Another Living Seas tip - watch the daily feedings. Suddenly more fish than you thought were in there
I went into the Land, and out of the Land, and into the queue for Soarin', and out of the queue for Soarin' and the music appears to be from Soarin' inside the Land itself, though faint, while being different than the outside music, which I have no idea what it is, possibly the old loop.
The 12th floor of the Contemporary on the Bay Lake side is blocked off with a beige tarp. On the outside of the resort, from the WL boat, you can see plywood in all of the sliding glass doors with a vent hole and ventilation tubing sticking out. Work on the South wing progresses too, with similiar plywood in the doors and lots of work on its roof. The 12th floor rooms are Tower Club if i recall correctly - and those are the rooms going up $80 a night in 2006.
Half of Yacht Club doesn't have a roof. Actually, no shingles. Took me a few mins to figure it out, but much of the main building is bar tar-paper (or some other underlying sealant) at the moment as they redo the roof.
The Tomorrowland Terrace video of noodles and space is the most bizarre thing ever. Guests kept stopping to stare at it. The place was packed though, even the upper level. It closes again to be seasonal on July 10th.
Rehab walls at the Poly too, on the side near the TTC and the Guest parking lot.
CoP is looking rough, especially father in scene 1, he looks like his neck is falling off. The boy's jaw in the finale doesn't seem to be working right either. Crowds in the theater were medium-slow but constant.
Two surprises: Lots of folks do watch Impressions de France and the Tiki Room. Both had good sized crowds.
For the first time in my life I got to walk the full upstairs queue of the TTA - and there was a line downstairs to get on the speedramp. It went the entire length they can extend to toward the Astro Orbitor entrance and then doubled back on itself.
Japan celebrated a holiday that occurs on the 7th of July with everyone tying their wish on a piece of colored paper onto a tree. It was really pretty. They brought in extra trees and all the girls in the pavillion wore the traditional kimono-like attire (rather than the usual shirt/skirt combo).
Gold ears were everywhere, including on top of my head.
VMK has taken over the Cinema. Roughly 6 computers now replace various racks of items and the store essentially sells software and DVD's but stil has the mountain of plush in the middle.
Timekeeper speil was on the TTA though it was closed. It's red LED wrap around marquee read Happiest Celebration on Earth.
I hated the Grand Floridian. It's a waste of money. Visitted lots of other resorts and would recommend any of them, ever All Stars, before it.
