Eat a snack or drink a drink before you get on, It's two hours from Memphis from boarding and unboarding. On baggage one should read up and understand it, Those two carry ons , could they be in a single, larger checked bag. They still offer great prices when you play by the rules especially when you score a promo deal. Pack smartly. Use you bathroom scales to check your luggage, so on. I don't consider it such a hinderance, especially as your legacies are adopting more and more of the ULCC and LCC tactics. Southwest is your best bet in Memphis if a group of 4 needs 8 or more bags. One thing folks I know have done, they have packed their carryon but put it in their larger matching checked bag for the flight down and if they bought stuff to need a second bag, use both separately. That way you saved a little on the way down.
