Memory Maker Question

And of course there is the possibility that the photos they take will never show up. We stood in line for the fairies once with the kids, had the disney photographers snapping their photos at each meet and greet and then when we got the photos online we didn't get any with Tinkerbell even though they had snapped photos of both our daughters with her they just never showed up. So don't assume you are even going to get the photos that they take, there is a chance they will vanish in the ether.

There's a system in place if you have photos that are not linked up or are missing. I had a few from EPCOT last year that got lost. I sent in a report and they were able to locate the files and link them to my account. Most of the time the photos they take aren't deleted just never linked in the cloud.

Glad it worked out for you. We contacted them and after being passed to several people, several emails and lots of wasted time on hold, still never got the photos. So from my experience I wouldn't count always delivering, not saying it happens often because we've had lots of photos taken over the years, and only a few instances where they vanished.

I was listening to the Disney Dish podcast (knowing that Jim Hill is hit-or-miss) and he mentioned that Disney just filed a patent that would essentially remove the cast member from the photographer role, at least for things like Meet and Greets. The camera would use a form of AI to know when you are in place and posing and automatically take the photos. He said that Disney is using machine learning to analyze all of the Photopass pictures taken over the past few years so that the computer can "learn" the characteristics of the typical photo so it knows when to take a shot. It is also being trained to look for obscene gestures, etc. so that it won't take photos when those are present. Aside from taking a job away from a human, he said that the images that the computer takes have a better quality than those taken by a human because the camera can be completely still and make better adjustments for focus, exposure, etc. The big question is what that would mean for people who want pictures taken with their own cameras. Would the cast member working as the greeter be able to take the photos or would people just be out of luck if they wanted pictures taken with their own camera? Interesting potential development, to be sure.

I could totally see Disney doing this for Meet and Greets. Forcing guests to use their system and pay for either Memory Maker or the photos individually.

UGH, I don't like this at all. It's the candid fun and unexpected shots that I like not the posed pictures.
