MDE Question - Current Friends and Family creating their own account?

Going to try to explain this in a way that makes sense. I'm a little confused. lol

I have a MDE account under my name/email.

I have two of my friends (husband and wife) listed as Friends and Family under my account. (They do not have their own MDE account)

I see used cards and active Magic Bands from a previous trip associated with their names.

We currently have a reservation booked for Sept 2022. Just DVC room, they do not have tickets for this trip yet.

I suggested before they get/add their tickets to my account, they make their own MDE account so they could do individual things if necessary, mobile order without having to exchange $$, etc., and so they could see anything we have planned.

Question 1 - If they make their own account, what should I do with them from my account? Delete them then "Share" plans to get them back? Keep them there and still "Share"? Would their names from their account associate with their names on my account already?

Question 2 - Most importantly, what happens to their active Magic Bands?

If they do make their own account, will it just mess everything up?

Thanks for any help. (I just want them to have their own account as they are adults and we should have done that to begin with before our first trip with them, but everyone wants me to plan everything , but things are much more complicated and app driven now)

Thank you for your reply (on both boards)! Very intimidating and confusing.

I did think of something else - will they each have to create their OWN MDE account, or could one do it for both? Thinking if only one creates an account, it will only pull their info over, not their spouse?

If they created a single account for both, you would have to call Disney to get them to connect the spouse profile you manage to the manage spouse profile on the newly created MDE account.

This is why I always suggest that every adult create their own MDE accounts, even if they likely will never log in again. It reduces the chances of problems or duplicate entries for the same person.

It sounds like you've got it covered, but for those who might be taking a look at this conversation with a similar problem:
1- Have each person create their own MDE accounts.
2- Go into *your* account, and for each listing of them go in and fill in their email to invite them to be friends.
3- Once they accept, any Bands, cards, etc associated with them will move over to their account and be under their control.
4-After each is connected with you they can then link to each other using the "mutual friends" feature.

As stated by the previous poster, the only account function that users can't do themselves is to move a "managed by" profile from being controlled by one person, to being controlled by another person. (Example, moving a child's profile from being controlled by Parent A to being controlled by Parent B) For that you have to call the Help Desk.

Awesome explanation and good reasons why all adults should have their own account. Now I have to go set one up for my husband! lol
