Had an interesting experience at the Maya Grill on Saturday. My wife and I were staying at the CSR. Had been enjoying some drinks at the Rix Lounge. She was having Vodka Sodas with their "house" vodka, which apparently was smirnoff. They were $7.50, which for Disney is about right. Went to Maya Grill and ordered two vodka sodas, both time with the "house" vodka. Got the bill and saw that the two together were $33!!!! Asked our server who said that was the right price. I mentioned that we had been getting them at Rix Lounge for $7.50. These were $16.50 each. Seemed odd to say the least. He checked and said that they did have a cheaper version, using smirnoff, that was $7.50. Their "house" vodka was apparently Absolut. To his credit, he switched them to the cheaper price.
Typically when you order a "house" drink you're getting the cheapest liquor. Not always though, which is fine. But, since when is a vodka soda EVER $16.50/each, much less using Absolut (which runs for about $20/750ml bottle resale)? A shouldn't the house vodka at a restaurant be the same as the house vodka at the bar just 100 feet away?
Guess this is why you should always check your receipts before paying!
