May 21 MGM Update on WDWMagic

There was an Update for MGM on May 21 on WDWMagic .. It said "The entire Ewok Village set of Star Tours is walled off, it is either being repainted or replaced to add more Tatooine theming, not sure which yet.

Great Movie Ride went down for a one to two week rehab starting this previous Monday."

Anyone know about the outcome of this?

Movie Ride is open the only difference I noticed was that they moved the Alien from the ceiling to the side of car and it doesn't pop out. I guess too many kids were getting scared by it.

I think they always had an Alien to the side of the car. There were 2, one in the celing, and one on the side.

I was there last week. All they had changed that I could see was the addition of an alien to the side of the car. There is still one in the ceiling (sp?).

there has always been an alien next to the sigourney weaver audio-animatronics. Do you mean there is a third alien?

Alien Clarification

The GMR vehicles are made up of two cars attached together. It is not possible to have one alien scare both cars. The people in the second car would already know where the alien was going to come from.

For this reason there has always been two aliens; one in the ceiling and one in the right hand wall. The alien in the ceiling scares the first car, then when the second car is expectign the ceiling location to activate, they are suprised by the alien from the wall.

The reason most people in the first car do not see the alien in the wall is that his head is shaped like a pipe and hidden among a group of pipes and wires. Unless you know to look, most people never see him.
