PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS NOT AN ACTUAL DVD, JUST AN IDEA

I've lately had a craving to watch old James Bond movies lately (so far in the past two weeks, I've watched From Russia with Love, The Spy Who Loved Me, 25 Years of James Bond, an old ABC special from 1987, and am in the middle of A View to A Kill), which my parents taped off ABC in the late '80s. I've noticed on some of the tapes that there are old WDW commericals on them. So I started to come up with ideas for a DVD Disney should come out with. I call it: Walt Disney World Commercials: 1971-Present. It would be a multiple disc set, consisting of (possibly all)commercials since WDW opened. I've had some ideas about additional content.

The Top 10: Approximately six months to a year before the DVD is released, a web site would be put up to vote for the top ten commercials in WDW history, out of approx. 100 commercials. There would be a special section on the DVD showcasing the top 10.

Photo Gallery: Walt Disney World Advertising in Print, 1971-Present: A photo gallery showing ads WDW has put out in magazines and newspapers.

The Making of a Walt Disney World Commercial: A new, behind-the-scenes short documentary about the process that goes into a 30 second commercial.

If anyone else has ideas, I'd love to hear them.

You MUST include the Disney Destinations Commercial, even though it's Disneyland. You know, the one with all the CG Characters.

Technically the DisneyDestinations commercials is intended for ALL the Disney parks and it's kind of my facvorite, that and the dogs.

This would be a nice adition to that Disney Treasures collection, you know the ones in the tin cans.

Of course I would include the Coming Home set. I wouldn't be suprised if it made the top 10.

I'll give a count of the amount of WDW-related commercials I find:

1. McDonald's Monopoly Game (1986 or 87): One of the prizes is a trip to WDW (good footage of Epcot)

2. This Is EPCOT Center ('86 or '87): A fast-paced montage of EPCOT Center's various attractions, such as Communicore, Horizons, Captain EO, and others, ending with the narration, "This is EPCOT Center."

3. A Vacation Within A Vacation ('87): This shows the more grown-up, romantic view of WDW, with a cool song at the end.

More when I find them.

I came up with two covers for the DVD.

One is a really bad one of the Cinderella Castle, with "Walt Disney World Television Commercials 1971-Present" in Disney script with "Disney DVD" at the bottom.

The second one is much better, a Walt Disney Treasures cover manipulated in Paint with the same information.

Just thought I'd share.

Please tell me the one from the old Lion King video will be part of this,
"Now I know Goofy is this big on TV, but in real life, Goofy could beat up dad!"

Hopefully all commercials would make it onto the DVD. Including one of my favorites, "I can't sleep. I'm too excited."

Is there anyway you could make it multi-regional or region 2?

BTW I love the ad i saw during mast trip "NO. I DON'T HAVE ANY QUARTERS!!!" And the dog ad playing currently in rainy Devon.

Great idea!

Hmmm. I dunno. Does the Walt Disney Treasures collection usually make it to multi-regional or region 2?

PS: I'm starting to get worried. This is not an actual DVD I'm making, just an idea. But don't let that discourage you from giving ideas.

(Oh, BTW, I finished A View To A Kill and started You Only Live Twice, so I'll keep a sharp eye for WDW commercials.)

I found another one on my copy of Thunderball.

"You and Disney" (1986)- A montage of clips of family activities from around the resort, such as the parks, boating, dining, etc.

I finally remembered the song in the "Vacation Within a Vacation"

"Come see the magic of our world, Walt Disney World!"

How about the commercial used for WDW's 20th? It involves a bunch of 20 clips at the resort. They count them to the music of Dance of the Hours.

And don't forget the 1986 clips featuring some of the cast of The Cosby Show, sans Bill Cosby and Phyllicia Rashad. These commercials and many others can actually be found on - you guessed it! - YouTube.
