(ET Online) Actor Wayne Rogers died on Thursday surrounded by family after suffering complications from pneumonia, his rep exclusively tells ET. He was 82 years old.

Rogers, who hailed from Alabama, is best known for playing the role of Captain "Trapper" John McIntyre in the classic television series M*A*S*H from 1972-1975. He also had recurring roles in City of Angels, House Calls, and Murder, She Wrote.

Aside from his work in television, Rogers was also a regular panel member on the Fox News Channel stock investment television program Cashin' In, thanks to a hugely sucessful career as an investor, real estate developer, and money manager. He was also the head of Wayne Rogers & Co., a stock trading investment corporation.

Prior to becoming an actor, Rogers served in the United States Navy. He also had a history degree from Princeton University.

Rogers received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2005.

The actor is survived by his wife, Amy, and his children Bill and Laura from his first marriage to actress Mitzi McWhorter. He is also survived by his four grandchildren: Alexander, Daniel, William and Anais.

It amazes me how much affect that people like Wayne passing away or even D ick van D yke being 90 years old depresses me. They were just young people a couple years ago. Where has the time gone? Where has my time gone? Not a high spirited way to start the new year. Between that and the fact that I have developed a ulcerated cornea and I have to go to the VA today to see if it is progressing in a positive manner has me wanting to just crawl into a corner and curl up in fetal position. (the problem is that I am too fat to achieve that). Other then that "Happy New Year". It's enough to make a person downright grumpy. :(:(

I understand where you're coming from. It is sad to see familiar actors (from movies, or TV shows, from years ago) pass away. I really enjoyed Wayne Rogers' role as "Trapper" on MASH. He will be missed, and may he rest in peace.

Aside of the above, I think you still have many good years of living ahead of you. IMO, age is an important number; yet, we all age differently (physically and emotionally), based upon the specifics of our own situation. So while we extend our heartfelt condolences to the deceased, I hope we can also keep on moving in a positive direction.

Oh, I agree with you. I have no reason to be depressed about stuff. Overall I have been very fortunate and basically healthy until this past year. The only real physical issues I had before that was high blood pressure and apnea... both under control. I may have had other things, but, I am not the person that runs to the Doctors every time I get a hangnail. I wait it out a reasonable time to see if it corrects itself, usually it does. My eye is a minor point in the world of comparison, but, when you are looking at the mountain from the downside of the top, it is sometimes hard to not just see the bottom.

For some reason the media seems to enjoy pointing out all the people that died the previous year when entering a new one. That doesn't help either. Me? I figure that the eye thing will be resolved before too awful long, but, the big lingering question is the Prostate Cancer and the question of whether or not it actually needs anything to be done about it. I will find out more in Mid-January when I get tested again. If it has progressed rapidly, then I will be forced to deal with it sooner rather then later. If not, then it remains an unanswered question. Still, my life has been fairly good, all things considered. I have seen and done a lot more in my life then many. Just this past year alone. I have no reason to be feeling low, but, sometimes the emotions do not always connect with common sense. I will be fine though. I'm still strong and active and have no reason to be overly concerned, it's just that occasionally, it's tough not to fall into the trap of self pity. If you saw the picture of myself with my daughters a week or so ago, it is obvious that I do not look even a little bit unhealthy. Still overweight, but, otherwise very studly. :joyfull:
