Mary Blair Exhibit at The Disney Gallery

How did this go unnoticed but opening this Friday is a new exhibit at the Disney Gallery- The Art of Mary Blair celebrating 45 years of it's a small world

The new exhibit opening May 13, 2011 will showcase concept artwork from "it's a small world," along with other concept story board art from such classic Disney films as Cinderella, Peter Pan and Alice in Wonderland and various other installations for projects around the world including tile murals for Tomorrowland, Adventure Through Innerspace, Disney's Contemporary Resort and the never realized Western River Ride.

Until today, there has never been an opportunity to showcase the collection that inspired it all. But thanks to Kim Irvine, Dave Golbeck and team, The Disney Gallery will unveil a brand new exhibit May 13 to celebrate the art of Mary Blair and 45 years of this classic Disney attraction

While I still wish The Disney Gallery was still above Pirates its great to have it back and the exhibits updated on a regular basis. What a great time to be a DLR fan.

Yes, very excited for this!! My wife and I are very big MB fans. While I was there a few weeks ago I picked up a handful of the freebie promo postcards they were giving away featuring that same Small World artwork. They probably still have some left -- they were in the Disneyana shop on Main St.

The art gallery is definitely one of my favorite places to visit while in the park. So thankful we have it.

On a related note, it's also worth mentioning is that this week's Mousestalgia podcast has a fun interview with Alice Davis speaking specifically on her memories of Mary Blair whom she was close friends with (along with Marc).
