Marty Sklar, vice chairman and head creative executive at Walt Disney Co.'s Imagineering arm, has been named to the amusement-park industry's Hall of Fame.

Sklar, who began as Walt's speechwriter, was inducted at last week's International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions convention and trade show in Orlando. Under his leadership, Walt Disney Imagineering has grown from 2,000 employees to 4,000, making it the country's largest architectural firm.

Sklar is the only living industry leader in this year's class. Rudyard Uzzell, an early ride manufacturer who helped found a trade association that evolved into IAAPA, and Leon Cassidy, a former magician who credited with creating the world's first dark ride that moved cars by rail instead of water, were also inducted into the hall of fame.
