Management question

I'm currently working on my Bachelor's in Business Management and would like get any information I can on "management" positions. I have 11 years experience so far and as I said, will have my degree shortly.

Basically I'm wondering about the wage or salary that managers make at entry. Is it possible to hire in as a manager or would I have to first take the baby steps and hire in as a hourly employee with no title first?

I want to relocate to Orlando and I want to work for Disney and I know it will be in management. I need to know if anyone here can tell me what my chances are AND what do managers at the parks make anyway?

Thank you so much--
Christina

i have to prefice by saying i dont work for disney but like u wish to soon in mgt-i have 12 years merchandise/marketing management backround.im sure cast members in here will agree with my post .disney does do everything in its power to promote from within to fill salaried professional roles.they to this day have a very strong promote from within policy.there are many times though that disney cant fill the position internally through hourly cms and has to look outside the company.do to the sheer size of the wdw resort alone salaried positions are plentiful(not sure lately due to 9/11).there are many disney business units outside wdw resort in fla too.one that comes to mind for me with merchandise backround is disney consumer products with under that umbrella is the disney store as well.wdw has a professional jobline and also disneycareers.com may be helpful but one thing i have noticed over the last 14 years of wanting to work for the mouse is that finding salary info is very hard until final job offers are made.i do have a freind who is a business developement manager for disney store in glendale,ca-he came from another company straight into a salaried role with the company but had an mba from kellogg and 10 years mid level mgt with a major mass retailer-hope this kinda helped again i dont work for disney just want too

base pay for management is $29-31k a year. Raises go by seniority, Cast reviews, and executive reviews (basically, crap management gets shuffled around, while good management keeps the same position).

right now they are NOT hiring for anything but Hourly Security, so I'd wait a while before I do anything

I was just reading this quote since I got a Bachelor in MIS a few years ago and want to work at Disney. As far you know Mktiggerman, are they still mainly just hiring hourly security guards?

I'm not sure... I'll check with my sources and get back to you. I know they're looking for characters right now, like you would not believe

I'm so glad a thread like this came along! I'm in college now and am currently majoring in Technical theatre and design. I wanna eventually make it into WD entertainment designing stuff (in my dreams) but I know to start I'm going to have to work in the park. The only problem about being in the creative business is that its not always the most secure route to take. So to give myself something to fall back on, I also want to have a strong business background so if I'm never able to break into the creative side of WDW, I'll have some sort of business degree to hold me up so I don't have to scoop ice-cream for the rest of my life or have to find another job outside of disney. What type of degree would you suggest I get. I'm a freshman right now so I have to start to declare my minor in a few months. But is a business minor strong enough (I already know the answer to that) and should I possibly double-major?? The only problem with that is I don't think I get two degrees from my college, I'll get credit, but not a degree. AHHHHHH this is confusing, someone help!

Yeah Casting and the proffessional unit Of WDW Suggested it would be easier to obtain a salaried manager position with already having a part time of full time hourly position.
