I have a interview soon for the operations mangement internship. Has anyone ever does this one before? Is is concidered a professional internship so what pay rate does that put a management internship poistion at? Thanks for all the help.

Congrats... I applied for that too.. I actually applied for 5 internships got denied for each one. I guess it's because I graduate in May and they want "true" college students. Though they did tell me I could apply.. bahh

Anywho no I can't answer your questions but interested to hear about it anyways.

edit: actually I remember hearing pay was anywhere from $8-$12 for internships

edit: just curious, when did you apply for that internship?

Management internships are not professional internships, but function exactly the same. MI's are fully responsible managers in their area. In Operations, you could be in Attractions, Custodial, Parking, or Downtown Disney areas. The MI's are like the PI's in that no seniority is built during the duration of it. The big difference, though, is the MI's pay about twice as much at PI's ... last I heard it was about 600/wk.

I applied for the same internship on March 14th. Transit is one of the mentioned areas that the internship could be in. This is what I'm shooting for. Browns, did you already receive the "Thanks, but no thanks" emails? If so, when did you apply?

I applied for 5 internships over a month ago. The FAQ on the site says they won't always give a response if you get denied. I got 2 response saying no... 3 with no response. This one was no response.

Actually internships are all under one dept. now. MGMT internships and Advanced internships are all now known as Professional Internships. On mine (2004) I made 580 a week (before taxes). It was a lot of fun! I was in Merchandise. My sister has also done one in F&B.

Could anyone share the "usual" qualifactions of the people who get the PI/AI internships? I saw on the website what was required of people, but I'm wondering what kind of experiences and such do the people who actually get the job have. I was wondering espically about the operations management style one.

I was hoping to apply for one down the road and was under if I even had a chance.

Since I'm doing the CP in operations I'm guessing that helps big time. My only concern is that I really have no experiences in "management" nor is that my major (I'm a communications major). On the other hand I have extensive experience in the amusement industry (I sat and talked about the industry with numerous managers of big time amusement parks). I've been published numerous times in industry publications and know in general how the industry functions. I even have dealt with trade organizations and plan on talking classes (right along side the "real" park managers) at a convention for amusement park owners. My point is, do I have a small shot since I don't have any management experiences? I've always worked with my dad so I never had a chance to like move up in my job and become like say store manager or something as many college kids do.

Pretty much what I'm saying is in order to get a advanced internship in operations or such do I need to be a management major or have had management experience before? Or they looking for someone how knows the industry and has (hopefully!) completed the CP with success?

Instead of making a new thread I think i'll hijack this one again... anyone know how much managers make? Not internship ones... just regular managers. Any idea?

No one will be able to give you numbers on those. It varies by experience, seniority, role, responsibility, etc.
