Maliboomer Question

I noticed when I went on Maliboomer at DCA, there were these clear shields around the harnesses. On promotional material and commercials, there aren't any. Then I noticed that the ride was very close to where people walked and it is very easy to get sick on that ride if you don't have the stomach for that type of ride. Did they add those shields because people were throwing up all over the guests?

I heard they were scream guards. Something like guests at the hotel (Paradise Pier, probably) were complaining about the screams coming from the ride. The clear shields help block some of that noise.

Yep, and been there from the start as far as I know, despite any promotional stuff that shows otherwise (think ToT stuff that shows people standing unrestrained).

Cheers.

They're scream shields, stemming from agreements with the City of Anaheim to keep the sound down. There are also shields along the track of Screamin', and several years ago when the new promenade in New Orleans Square was built the sound system was rebuilt as well so as not to disturb the neighbors as much.

My biggest gripe about that whole issue is that Disneyland was there first, and people knew they were moving in next to a theme park when they purchased their home. But I digress...

Don't let anyone fool you!

If you've ridden the ride, then you know they are vomit funnels!! :hurl:

Guess it helps keep the mess confined to your lap and YOUR lap only!

Scream Shields don't really make a lot of sense. How loud could people possibly scream? There aren't any residential areas around Disneyland. I saw a sick guy being wheelchaired out with barf all over his lap. It must have been because of the shields on Maliboomer. If they weren't there the he would have barfed all over the people below.
