Making Reservations through RunDisney and FastPass+

So I have posted a couple times in other threads about my displeasure with booking packages through RunDisney and the fact that you don't get your tickets added to your account until you are physically on property. Well today I finally had my issue resolved and thought I may be able to help someone in the same situation I was in. So in our case we booked a Package through RunDisney which included 7 nights at POR with 6 days of park passes and were told the tickets wouldn't be activated until we checked in. The fix I was given by RunDisney was to remove the tickets from the reservation and just buy them separately through RunDisney at the discounted rate. So by removing the tickets I was able to add them immediately to our account and will now be able to make FastPass Reservations 60 days in advance. They claim to be fixing the whole issue, but hopefully if someone else is in the same situation this helps out, because I still got all of the RunDisney discounts and everything seems to have been worked out. The only other thing about the tickets being separate is that you have to pay in full at the time of purchase unlike being able to pay off the package over time. Just thought I would share :)

yeah....we are having this issue too. I am working with our travel agent on this. I am hoping that RunDisney will fix it but if they don't we will probably buy separately too. Seems this should be an easy fix for them but of course nothing is ever easy!

I wouldn't hold your breath on RunDisney fixing the issue though, we were told last year for the Wine & Dine that it would be fixed when the program officially rolled out, and yet it hasn't been fixed, but I really hope they do. It just seems silly that it doesn't work yet.

My sister already made a DVC reservation for the room & we usually buy park tickets at the front desk when we get there. Sounds like we should purchase the park passes in early November through RunDisney so we can reserve FastPass+ times??? Can you book park tickets only?

I'm not a fan of the 60 day advance policy. I know people who have booked FastPasses online ahead of their trip and ended up not even going to the parks on days they planned. Then the people who try to do it a week before and there are none left for certain attractions.

Yeah, all I did was remove the ticket portion of our package reservation, then I paid for the tickets through RunDisney separately, they gave me a number, I put it into MyDisneyExperience and all 3 six day passes showed up and could be assigned to each family member. Simple solution, just took multiple staff members to figure it out...
The only reason I did all of this was because of my fear of not getting into certain attractions if I had to wait, we have a 4 year old and I'm not making him wait for hours in line, seems silly, but was totally worth it to me

I agree. I am not really a fan of the 60 day thing either. I am a planner. I love making dining reservations and planning where I will be certain days but I draw the line at figuring what rides I will be doing at what time. Don't get me wrong though. I will do it because I want to take advantage of Fastpass and I want to ride certain things. I just wish I could do it more easily the day of.

It depends on the event. Most of the smaller event weekends (IE not Marathon or Princess) have usually offered sport event discounted tickets. See the snippet below from ToT. They are heavily discounted, are good only for 14 days either way of the event, and cannot be upgraded. Also, you may or may not get them prior to the event. I know some have been picked up on premise and not mailed to you.
SPECIALLY PRICED THEME PARK TICKETS
As part of The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror™ 10-Miler Weekend, you can save 30% on a 3-Day Theme Park Ticket with Park Hopper*, available only to The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror™ 10-Miler Weekend participants and their family and friends. These specially priced tickets must be ordered in advance on our Online Ticket Store or by calling 407-939-iRun.

*Your password to access the Online Ticket Store will be sent to you in your Registration Confirmation email. Tickets must be purchased in advance and will only be valid for a limited period of time before and after the event.
As they don't have info for tickets for January, your best bet would most likely be to by them from a 3rd party reseller like Undercover Tourist. I'd call runDisney and ask, but I doubt they will be selling the sport tickets for Marathon weekend. If you do go 3rd party, I'd suggest buying them soon so you don't get hit by a possible price increase in the next few months (if they follow trend).

What's the trend? I want to hold out as long as possible before buying my park tickets but if I know a jump is coming in X month I would definitely purchase before that.

I think they usually raise their prices in August but I am not positive on that time frame. We used undercover tourist a couple years ago.
