Hey everybody,
This is kinda long, sorry!
I'm considering the idea of moving to Orlando and getting a hourly/entry-level job at Disney World. My long time goal would be to make a career out of WDW, and since there is so many different opportunities possible there, I'm sure I'd be able to find my niche. Plus, I love the great networking and friendship possibilities, not to mention the great (and fun) environment (the heat doesn't really bother me as much). I'd also love to help create the magic not only for the guests but for myself and co-cast as well.
The only post-secondary education I have is an As. Degree in Computer animation, but being that the industry is incredibly competitive and jobs/positions are not plentiful especially for my skills/abilities. I'd like to be able to check out other opportunities, that may lead to success. Plus, my instructors always said it's a good idea to have a plan B.
Now seeing as that degree probably wouldn't mean very much at the World (which doesn't necessarily bother me), and I don't have any other degrees, nor do I have any Idea what I could go back to school for, how much of a chance is there to still be able to make a career out of the World? If they were to need a particular education in order to move up the ranks, I'd be more that delighted to do so.
I am thinking the area that might hold the key for me is behind the scenes possibly a position in Imagineering. I have a pretty strong imagination, and I tend to be on the crafty side ( I am currently making a Classic Mickey figurine out of clay, and I'm also working on making a tabletop water fountain, which I plan to theme to Jungle Cruise style
).
I'm single (22 years old) with no commitments (except for my current job, which I wouldn't mind leaving:lol
, and I've done the financial number crunching to be able to budget properly to survive. I think it would be a fantastic experience nonetheless. I know some of you are regular CMs and some of you are CPs. I'm interested in hearing from any of you. What do you think? Thanks everybody!
-Matt
