Hey i'm a newcomer, but going to WDW in August so i'm starting to get pumped. This might've been posted, but I've read in several places that Main Street is designed to look as if it's much longer than it is when you're heading towards the castle, through forced perspective (in the mornings when you are all excited and have the energy to walk). How is this accomplished? They slant the building fronts on Main Street so it looks longer than it actually is. When you're walking away from the castle towards the exit, it looks shorter (good for when your leaving and exhausted). This creates pleasing anticipation when arriving, and less irritation when trying to get home.
Also, since most people walk on the right side of the street, all the food spots are on the right as you enter (e.g. for those wanting breakfast), while the gift shops are on your right on the way out, when you're more inclined to want to purchase some souveniers....tricky!
*on an unrelated note--does anyone remember the Disney movie "Mr. Boogedy" from back in the day?? Rumor has it they did not mass produce it for retail sale b/c it was later deemed by Disney as being too scary for kids (it was pretty dang creepy)....if anyone knows where i can get my hands on a copy LET ME KNOW!!!
