Main Street Hours

Leaving in about a week with 3 young children for their 1st trip to WDW!!! The books I've read have all said to get to the parks before they officially open - that Main Street is open a half-hour before the Park/rides are. Can you still get tickets and onto Main Street at 8:30am (if you are staying off-site)?

I'm not sure what they are doing now, because of the security. I don't think you can though. You can definately buy Tickets though since they are sold at the TTC

Can anyone who has been to WDW recently answer this question? I called the WDW-INFO number and they (and transportation) did not know if Main Street (and Monorail/Ferry) is opening earlier than the park.
