MagicBands Question

Hello everyone,

I am new to this board and had a question that I have been trying to find the answer to on multiple websites and have not found a definite or current answer.

I recently had a Disney hotel booked and planned to be staying there in the coming weeks. However I recently visited the resort and toured the property and came to the conclusion that my personal preference was to stay at an non-Disney hotel due to the pricing and style. Now because I had booked the hotel stay weeks ago I have already customized my MagicBands that would have been for my resort stay and they have already been shipped to my home.

This leads to my main question. Do the MagicBands I received in the mail as part of my Disney Resort stay remain active for use in the parks even though I have cancelled my stay and am now staying at an non-Disney resort?

You cannot link the credit card if you are not staying on property. It actually charges back to your room and not directly to the card.

Really? It must only allow APs and resort guests to do that. That's good info to have!
Was going to say, though I was staying on properly last December, I updated my band to charge to my CC, not to my room charge. I do have an AP, didn't think that had anything to do with where my band was charging things.

Yep, I learned the hard way when I stayed **** gasp **** off property on a quick trip.
I thought I could do it to but was politely informed by the cast how it worked. I guess it's better than the card getting linked across Disney everywhere.

I just used apple pay from my IPhone and it was a breeze
