MagicBand and KTTW, both?

I've been hearing and reading an awful lot on the new system. Unfortunately, I'm still not very comfortable with things during this "testing" phase. We are going in late Dec. and trying to figure out this MagicBand for our stay at POFQ but one thing I have seen is folks have been issued the MagicBand but also have been given a KTTW card. I'm not sure I follow this. If you are at a resort participating in the current test, won't you be given just the bands in place of the KTTW card? Why are both being issued?

I think they're both being issued because the bands are still in testing, so you'd need your KTTW card in case the bands fail.

We're heading to WDW in 3 weeks and I fully plan on carryin my KTTW and AP with me, even though we'll have the bands too.

Yes, both are issued. Both do the same things.

This. In the future, you will get a choice of one or the other, it's only during testing that you will get both.
