Magical or Remember?

So my family is going to Disneyland for the first time next May (I've been before, the rest of them have not). I really want them to see Remember, but looking at this year's calendar it seems beginning of May is when Magical starts. I personally think Magical is an incredibly weak show and have no desire to see it with them on their first trip.

I'm hoping Magical is only starting so early this year in anticipation of Cars Land opening, but in years past when does the switch over from Remember to Magical usually happen?

Usually Magical begins Memorial Day weekend. I doubt this had anything to do with Cars Land/Buena Vista Street opening since that would be in mid June.

Personally I find Magical to be a better show. I would also recommend Magical to first timers because Remember is so full of references to things of Disneylands past that it does go over some peoples heads. The show was catered to the nostalgic and the fans who have been many times over.

I happen to find Magical to be an excellent show, but at the same time, Remember is far better IMO. But I'm guessing your family will be a little confused during specific parts of Remember, but that's okay.

If you're going in May, the likes of you and your family seeing Remember are very slim to none. DL usually shows Remember during the fall season, around September.

Forgive my ignorance - what's "magical" and "remember" ?

No worries! "Magical" and "Remember", short for "Remember... Dreams Come True" are two firework shows currently showing at Disneyland Park. Magical usually runs during the summer and Remember runs during the fall. Magical focuses on the "magic" of something. The magic of love or a first kiss, the magic of a mother's love. Both Tinkerbell and Dumbo fly over Sleeping Beauty's Castle during Magical. It's a great show.

Remember is completely different. Think Wishes! but instead of the different spiels from movies, they are replaced with different spiels from Disneyland's most popular and memorable attractions, both past and present. Remember debuted for Disneyland's 50th birthday, and it is very popular among Disneyland guests. Tinkerbell flys around the castle during this show as well. Remember is also the longest firework show in Disney Parks history, being a total of 17 or 18 minutes long. Hope this has helped.
