Magical express for luggage only?

Long story short: My fiancee and I go to school in Indiana. She's from Pennsylvania and I'm from Rhode Island and we're honeymooning at Disney from July 10-17 where we will also be MOVING so I can start work with Disney on August 1. I'll be driving my car to Orlando after graduation and storing it at a long-term lot near the airport, then flying home to Rhode Island before returning to Indiana for the wedding. Make sense? Anyways, when we fly from Indiana to Orlando for the honeymoon, would it be possible to go get my own car so we have it for the week, but let Magical Express pick up our luggage and bring it to the room? If so, should I notify the DME people of my plan, or should I just tell them that I'll be using DME and then just 'skip' the getting-on-the-bus portion?

The short answer is no, this is not allowed.

At least one person has to travel on the bus for all luggage associated with that reservation to be released to be transported to the hotel. They scan the barcode on your ticket as you board the bus as part of this process.

Now, the luggage *may* slip through the system and travel without you riding, but it's quite possible there will be problems, with the worst-case scenario being that it gets stuck in Disney luggage facility limbo at the airport for days.

Either you'll have to not use DME at all and collect your own luggage at baggae claim, or you'll have to send one person to take the bus while the other rents the car and drives.
