Magic Kingdom Railroad - How many trains run daily?

I believe there are four steam trains, but do all four run daily?

If not, is there a way to find out when train 3 will be running? Asking for sentimental reasons for an up-coming trip.

The number of trains running depends on the crowd levels. They normally run two, and add a third if they need it.
Also, it seems that somewhere in my unreliable memory that one of the locomotives may be gone for overhaul, but there are people on here that can let you know for sure. Either that or one just got back.....

Right now they usually run 2. If it's a busy day then 3. Also, Walter E. Disney is in Strasbourg PA for a multi year refurb. They just got Lilly Belle back from a 7 ish year refurb in Nov of 2016.

Edit: Walter's should be shorter than Lilly's

Wow, that's a long refurb. Was the Lilly Belle in that bad of shape?
yes. It's boiler was completely rusted. But they can fix that in a few months. What took so long was the technology they put into that locomotive. It is the Frankenstein of steam locomotives and I love it so much because of how beautiful it is as well. It's still a steam locomotive, but they basically installed new safety equipment like sensors and gauges and stuff.

Since the no longer have the "show train" for the opening, do they use the show train cars for regular use even though they are (or at least were) open on both sides rather than just the right side?

Thank you all for this helpful info! Does anyone know if there is a way to determine if #3 Roger E. Broggie will be running on a particular day?

Here is a link to a page with a lot of good information on the WDW Railroad:

Roger is operating most of the time. He's like the work horse of the railroad. Every Sunday that I visit he's operating.

Eric, your info is very helpful...our trip will be this Sunday. Sounds like we will be OK. Would be wonderful to confirm that Roger is officially on the schedule, but just knowing that it typically is on Sundays, means we should be good. Thanks again!

Since the reopening of the railroad back in December 2022, Lilly Belle has since been mated with its 200 series coaches, which are the former show train coaches. However there was one time in October 2023 where it pulled the 300 coaches.

WRONG! Lilly have recoupled to her personal 200 series green cars in late October 2018 just a few months before the WDWRR's temporary closure:

Yeah I forgot. It’s been a long four years lmao
I heard the reason why Lilly wasn't reunited with her 200 series green coaches after her overhaul at Strasburg during 2016 is because she's now equipped with a battery box behind her tender, which replaced the steam generator. The 200 series cars don't have the power source compatible with the battery and only depends on the steam generator until this was resolved around 2018.
