Magic Kingdom decorations, are they being cut back?

Hello all,

First I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.

I took my family to the Magic Kingdom last night for a few hours and then to the Marketplace for dinner. We do this every year, it helps get us into the spirit, it's a tradition we all love.

It seemed that the MK's decorations have been cut back. Does anyone else feel this way. A few weeks ago I read a thread about Disneyland's Christmas decorations and I was totally shocked at how much more they do at DL than at WDW. It's almost like DL has the same budget as ALL of WDW for they're decorations.

I would like to see WDW do a lot more decorating, more like DL.

OH! I also saw a show on Food Network about the Christmas food at DL and they were talking about the hand-made candy canes they offer there. We went to the candy store at the MK and asked about them and they said "that's only a DL thing".

It seems like there are a lot of "only DL things".

We are going to DL in sept. for the half marathon, can't wait.

I hope everyone has a safe holiday. :xmas:

We just got back from Disney on Sunday and the last time we were in Disney during the holidays was is 2008 and I honestly don't think much has changed between now and then. I do think that DTD could use a little more holiday decorations though!

I have been here every single Christmas for the past twenty years, including this past week, and I see absolutely no differences at either MK or DTD at least over the past 4 or 5 years. If anything, MK has more lights up this year. DTD hasn't changed their holiday lighting in years and it is the same this year.

I'm not sure why you feel there is less. But there isn't any practical difference.

We seemed to notice a reduction of decorations the first year Iger took over; since then each year has added to the point that they appear to be on par with previous decoration years.

We just returned on the 12th, and I would say the amount of decorations is getting less each year. I can even see it in my pictures from 2000, 2006, & 2008. Pop Century had far less than in past years. In the food court, you could hardly tell it was Christmas.

I won't even get started on Epcot and the LOW. What a let down!
