Magic bands

Does anyone know if you can still receive magic bands even if you buy your tickets from a site other than disney? I know they're not available to all guests yet but our trip isn't until October this year so I was wondering if they would be available by then? Thanks

As of now, you get a magic band if you stay in a Disney hotel.

If you don't stay in a Disney hotel, you don't get a wristband.

If you stay in a Disney hotel, you get a wristband.

It is all about what hotel you stay in, not where you buy your tickets.

Ok thanks do u happen to know if theres plans to give all guests a magic band in the future? or is it always going to be only for resort guests? thanks
