Magic Band Question(s)

We are planning a trip in November and we have not used the Magic Bands yet. We are DVC members and my husband and I have ordered annual passes but will not activate them until we arrive in November. My son will probably just purchase park hopper tickets. I'm not sure where I stand on My Disney Experience and customizing bands and how to link all these together. Since we are staying onsite can we go ahead and make the fast pass choices prior to our arrival? I'm so confused. I have been looking at articles but it is not quite making it clear what the answer really is, so any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Step 1) Create your MDE profiles.
Step 2) Link your hotel reservation.
Step 3) Link your tickets to your profiles. (You should be able to link your AP vouchers)

You'll then be able to make FP+ reservations 60 days out. Purchasing and linking the tickets beforehand is required before you can make advance FP+ reservations. If you wait to purchase and link until you get there, you won't be able to make FP+ reservations until that point.

You'll get one Magic Band per person from the hotel reservation. The AP-holders will also get a second Band, though I'm not totally sure if you'll be able to order it right away or have to wait until you activate your passes. Each person can use the Bands assigned to themselves interchangeably.
