Magic Band Mailing Time?

We want to surprise our kids with a trip we booked to WDW. We don't plan to tell them until 3.5 weeks beforehand. They are both teens and it is hard to get anything by them. If Magic Bands were to come in the mail and they were home to get the mail first, the jig would be up. Will the Magic Bands be sent to us more than 3 weeks in advance of the trip?

Love a little Disney every day!! ;)
Maybe maybe not. Usually they arrive about 2-3 weeks out but some have reported getting them a little sooner. They don't ship until after 30 days out because you can customize them up until 30 days out. I think you will be fine and also the box comes in a plain brown box and does not say from Disney it was like some Initials DMD or something like that. Lol. You will get notified when It ships so you do get a heads up usually. :)

They ship 1 or 2 business days after your countdown reaches 0. So depending on how those dates work out on the calendar and how far away you are from Tennessee (where the company that makes and ships the Bands is located), it could be a couple days, it could be a week.

And as someone else said, the outside of the shipping box isn't overtly Disney. It's just a brown shipping box.

Thanks guys. At least the neutral mailing box will help if they get here a few days before the surprise is revealed.
WOW never thought about that....I am done surprising my teens, but most every trip I had to work overtime to make it a surprise....that very morning! A few times it was a teacher I had told in private about the surprise who could not keep a secret....told a counselor, counselor suspicious that an all A student was skipping school.....sigh.....he was bummed she called him down to office. Once a mailman came to door because I filed a stop mail thing, he had a customer who had been scammed by relatives and stopped her mail, he saw me home and wanted to make sure things were ok.....I had always stopped it a couple days prior in past with no interaction....it was very nice of him to worry about me, but it almost blew my cover, one child was home for a 1/2 day.....phew. I actually packed their things and hid the cases.....boys not into clothing don't notice, and since it was off season even less chance of noticing shorts missing in the winter!

Have great fun and let us know if you are successful in circumventing the box! :)

So if one were to prepurchase custom bands do you think they would still mail out the ordinary ones with a ticket/package purchase?

Yes. Every hotel reservation gets a set of Bands (unless you decline, as another poster said). All Bands linked to a profile can then be used interchangeably, so each day you'd have a choice between the two Bands (custom and basic).

Wow, we've had some successful surprises over the years but it's usually me and DH who are bursting at the seams to break the news. We trust no one! LOL

Hee hee....it can be very stressful but rewarding.....and that's just it, thinking of all the ways the surprise can be ruined is basically limitless....probably just creates more risk by working so hard to cover your bases. ;) I started doing it when my oldest would be too excited over a week prior and be up at night interrupting the rest of the families sleep.....so basically they knew they were going sometime, because Santa usually brought them a park ticket....but the when was always different. :)

Never tried to surprise my son, he is always in on the planning. But it sounds fun. They do ship in a plain brown package but he sees "Lake Buena Vista, FL " on the return address and he knows exactly what they are. Love the bands! Depending on our outfit we will wear one or all of them at the same time! At first I was going to decline them on a return trip, but then I thought about how much they sell for in the parks, and they make a terrific personalized souvenir at no additional cost.

We have had it where the shipping notification comes a day or two after I received the "box". I think the last time or two we went may have been timed correctly where the notice came first so they may have updated the notification system. And I have to agree that the box typically has no mention of Disney.
