luggage question

I have what is probably a silly question: On most airlines you are allowed 2 carry on bags, one that goes overhead and one that goes by your feet. Can the one that goes by your feet have wheels? Would that still qualify as the personal item? I recently purchased a small wheeled duffel bag for my upcoming trip to WDW. I'm hoping between that, and my regular carry on I won't have to check any bags. But then I got to thinking that maybe they wouldn't consider my new duffel a personal item as it has wheels.

Am I just way over thinking this?

You should check your airline's website. Many airlines specify one small suitcase and one "personal" bag.

I agree with Nemo14. I doubt that anything with wheels would be considered a personal item or even fit under the seat. (Remember, the bag must fit completely under the seat. It cannot intrude into the space where your feet are for safety reasons)

Typically my carry-on is a small roll-aboard suitcase and my personal item is my backpack. If I'm heading to Disney and using my large suitcase I usually only carry on the backpack and put it under the seat.

Most airlines (Southwest is one exception that comes to mind) specify maximum dimensions for the "personal item." I've seen a number of small rollaboard backpacks and totes that fit easily within those maximums. Check your airline's website to be sure.
