Lost/stolen iPhone magic kingdom

Hi, first WDW trip as a parent and my iPhone 7 plus went missing while in Briar Patch gift shop! My 5 month old spit up all over me and I guess I placed my phone on the rocking chair while I jumped up to wipe off (myself and baby). I didn't notice it was missing until I went outside. No cast member found it in gift shop when I asked, and both magic kingdom gift shop or the big lost and found has not found it. It was also turned off immediately so I could not track It - also made me
Hopeful it was going to be turned in since they said cast members must turn off found phones. But, it's been gone for 5 days so I assume someone was watching me while I was distracted with baby spit up and took my phone.

A total bummer way to start a WDW trip!

I have a report filed out with lost and found and was hoping some Disney Magic would come my way.

Ugh. I'm so sorry for you!!! I hope you have iCloud storage and insurance!! :(

The phone hasn't been turned on in 5 days? This makes me think that's it's just lost dead somewhere and not actually stolen. That gives a little hope that it may be recovered.

My daughter dropped her phone at the Poly on check out day. Got a call from a CM from it about ten minutes later and we went to Capt Cooks and picked it up.

Yes, at least the sting isn't so bad with iCloud and insurance replacement!

But, the fact that it's been so many days makes me think it was taken on purpose and I definitely had a full battery that morning in the park.

I was hopeful I'd have a happy ending as I saw two purses reunited with their owners in the parks and I turned in two magic bands left on benches in the parks.

Someone just had to have been watching me waiting for the right moment because I was clearly distracted.

It sometimes takes awhile (weeks even) for items to make their way through lost and found. An iPhone may be more problematic due to the product’s ubiquity.

My daughter lost expensive sunglasses in a gift shop and it took about 4 days and they finally showed up at lost and found. Good luck

Disney has a legendary lost and found. I’m serious.

Left a merchandise bag on a boat coming back from Disney Springs and reported it. Two days later, the bag was in our room.

Amazing.

Too bad this did not happen in Japan or on Tokyo Disney property --- you would have an approx 98% of getting it back.

Better chance than not that one can leave a $3,000 laptop, wallet with $10k in it and a Rolex on a seat on the Yamanote Train Line packed to the gills with rush hour salarymen, wait for it to do its complete circle of Tokyo(1 hour wait) and get all of his items back--- completely untouched.

Not sure of the likelihood but there are more benign ways to explain what happened.

I know there is certain segment of the populace that believes that man is inherently evil---- you know the ol Thomas Hobbes theorist types as well as some Evangelical faithfuls belief of original sin--- but based on what you described here I feel it's too quick to assign theft(not that I'm saying that you already concluded that).

Instead of someone willfully capitalizing on your distraction I feel it's possible that a very young kid picked it up and your phone made its way all the way back to a hotel on International Drive.

Bummer. I hope you at least get it back before you have to go home. One time my step daughter was taking a selfie (of course) on Expedition Everest at the end of the ride, when the coaster lurched forward a little. Her phone flew out of her hands and under the tracks! She could see it, but couldn't get it out. The cast members said there was nothing they could do until the park closed. Later she and my husband went to guest services, I wanna say around midnight? Anyway, they had her phone! The best part was that it was completely unscratched. We were all very relieved. She knew she lucked out and I hope learned her lesson. :)

The way he described what happened does not matter at all.

Anyways, I hope you get it back! That really sucks.

Gotta love Japan. Of course, that's due to its amazing people, not a flaw in the lost and found process at Disney. People are just less honest and thoughtful in America.

With Tokyo I think it's more about "leaving things be", "don't disturb things" than the strait up greed/theft angle. This is why we seldom see any defacing, trash dropping or gum stuck to rides in Tokyo Disney----- the parks stay super clean and pristine compared to USA ones. There is, of course, great personal and internal dishonor stealing in Japan too.

The "leave things alone" cultural aspect I feel is why one can leave a brief case or purse loaded with cash on a crowded train and it will sit untouched.

And if this happened near Tokyo DL's Splash Mountain then leaving that apple on a chair would have been undisturbed, maybe all day since for the most part only Japanese go to that park---- very homogeneic society

Well, I've left the resort with no phone. Stopped by the main lost and found as one last hurrah to hopefully get lucky and it was not there.

Hopefully whatever happened to it, wasn't sinister. Hate thinking there are malicious people in the parks!

So glad many people have their lost items returned.

That is Unfortunate , my phone fell out if my pocket on star tours, but as I was walking back to my ride location someone handed it to the cast member as I was asking to go back to the ride . There are still SOME good people out there .

Agree how awesome Lost and Found is...we left my DS's baby shoes on a park bench (they were just a pair of sandals) but checked with L&F on the way out of the park; sure enough, there they were! Granted, no one wants to steal baby shoes, but still! I also left my phone on a table on one of their cruise ships and DH left our expensive camera by the cruise ship pool (separate trips), both were turned in to L&F, so agree, there are still some honest people out there! Hope that phone turns up as it is a total pain in the neck to go through insurance to make a claim and replace your phone o_O

please tell me that you had 'find my iPhone" active on it.
if it was stolen, they'll eventually have to turn it on, keep checking it.
if it wasn't stolen, someone will eventually turn it in.
