We will be returning from WDW one day (December 16th) short of my wife's 40th Bday. I'd like to do something special for her while we're there.

We've never been to Hoop de Doo or Cirque (Cirque get's a little pricey for a group of 10!) so those are some ideas. I would like it to be something the whole family would enjoy too (2 seniors, 5 regular adults and 3 kids (9,12 and 17).

Any suggestions would greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Yes, La Nouba can be pricey, but check mousesavers.com and see if you can get any of the discounts available to the show. It is an experience that you will all remember for a long time. It's amazing. My brother and I caught the show in February, and we're taking the whole family (8 of us) when we go in March for Mom and Dad's 35th Anniversary.

Another idea, how about doing the Fantasmic Dinner package at the Brown Derby at Disney/MGM Studios. It's a great place to eat, and a fun experience, plus it's followed by Fantasmic.

Have fun!

With a large group you might want to consider the Reflections of Earth Fireworks Cruise. The larger group might offset the cost per person and it would be a very unique way to see the show!

I would agree with doing the fireworks boat ride. We did this for my Daughter last year we about 10 of us and it was GREAT! they give you balloons and a choice of birthday cakes. It fun and also very relaxing

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!:D

Have you ever done any of the behind the scenes tours? If your wife has some artistic talents/interests you may want to check into something at the Disney Institute:)

Definately... what a capper for a special day to watch fireworks from your own chartered boat. Great for all ages and truly memorable.

Thanks all!!

So how does one find out more on the criuse?

I'm a little leary of this suggestion though as my wife's not really a boat person (can you say "motion sickness"?)

Hoop de doo is my vote for a group like that or if she is into the cirque send the kids to disney quest with the others while you and your wife enjoy and then meet up at Bongos for plantains

There's a section in the Birnbaum's guide about the boat options. The number to call for reservations is 407-WDW-PLAY(939-7529).
If you don't have one, see if a friend has one, or just go to Borders or Barnes and Noble and read about the options yourself over a nice cup of coffee.

That's a good idea but I'm saving that for an Anniversary trip when it's just the two of us.

Room service does nice things for birthdays! You can check at the front desk of your hotel for more info. My mom celebrated her b-day down there on our last trip. We got a little cake,, chocolate strawberries that looked like they were wearing chocolate tuxedos, balloons. The waitress came in singing and everything....it was great. Granted you may want to do more than this, but I thought this would be a nice little way to start the day. We also celebrated by having dinner at the Rose & Crown Pub in the UK part of the World Showcase. If you can ask for seating on the terrace, they view of Illuminations is to die for!!!!
