So This is a bit of a story and I am sorry if this drags on.
I am 23, live in the Boston MA area and am going to college for Mechanical Engineering. My father just passed away from Cancer at 53. It was a heart breaking hurdle my family had to over come but it opened my eyes some to just how short life is and how we need to be ready and live our life to the fullest.
For most of my life I had been an avid Disney fan all around. I enjoy vacationing there, I enjoy the atmosphere in the parks, and from and engineering stand point the rides and tech they used is astonishing.

I am not saying I am going to pack up and move to Orlando and hope I stand outfront of Dinsey Employment office waiting for a job. BUT I would like to pursue and gather info on either a college program/co-op/or employment and see where things go.

so Does anyone have any advice? my dream job would be to become an imagineer/engineer and start a career down in FL (or wherever they job would be) but I also know in the real work espically in this economy dreams do not always come true.

any help you guys can give me would be awesome. I work currently at a shop where I will be off for the months of Jan and Feb so I hope to look further into this and see if there is anything there

From my experience on the College Program, I've learned Disney is a company of many opportunities. The CP is a great opportunity to be able to network and meet so many different people in different fields. I recommend it 100% for anyone passionate about Disney and looking to get into the company.

I too am a ME major and can only dream of being an Imagineer some day. I did the Spring Advantage program from Jan-Aug earlier this year and I am a campus rep now. I plan on finishing up my degree and moving back to Florida or California. It's all something I'm very passionate about and I can't wait on getting back into the company full time and build my way up in the company. Imagineering is a select team that finds you. It's definitely not something easy to apply into.

Best of luck!

I would also like to recommend the college program. It is a great way to get your foot in the door and network within the company.

They also do internships with WDI. However most of them require the college program almost like a prerequisite, just because they want people very familiar with WDW, the property and the labor operations.

But a friend of mine got a professional internship in engineering without the CP under their belt. So while the chances are slim that's also a possibility.

PM me with any questions.

Same here. Where did you work?

Just to add on with what Monorail said, I know more and more of the PIs specifically require the College Program under the belt so I know that it's something that give you an advantage. Like I said before, it's about building you're way up.
