Looking for info on Tech positions

Hi all! I'm new to the site, and was hoping someone here might have some info on Tech positions at WDW.

I'm currently employed as a Senior Event Technology Specialist (or, without the fluff, an a/v tech manager), and have been for over 5 years. I was wondering if there were any techs for the parks on these boards who could give some info on positions at the parks?

In particular, I would ultimately love to work with pyrotechnics, but don't have any experience with pyro yet. My experience lies with basic audio, video, and lighting set-ups and operations. Can anyone tell me what kind of positions are generally available? What can be expected at entry level? What are the job responsibilities in general, and which skills would be most useful for park positions?

I haven't yet approached Casting as of yet, because I wanted to do a little homework first so I can know what to expect, and this is my first step.

Any info is greatly appreciated!

Once upon a time I worked as a Guest Talent Coordinator with Magic Music Days and worked with some techs everyday, but unfortunately it kept me a little too busy to chat.

I know a few things but not a lot. They're considered part of entertainment; entry level is an hourly role and there are 3 levels based on experience/skill set. Managers not only cover techs but also entertainment (anything from dancers to character entertainment to equity actors and so on). So if you're looking to come in for a entry-level management position, you'll want to have experience with the entertainment industry, especially actors equity contracts and such.

I hope that helps a bit. Best of luck.
