Hi everyone! I've been lurking around various Disney sites for years, but since I'm going on a solo trip in about a month and have nobody to squee at, I thought I'd finally be sociable. I'd been to Disney World twice as a kid - once on the mandatory family once-in-a-lifetime trip, and once as a high schooler in marching band - but I wasn't bitten by the bug until I visited Disneyland during a conference in Anaheim. Then I had a conference a year later at the Swan and Dolphin during Flower and Garden, and one thing led to another and, well, I've been to Disney parks six times since 2012, and I've got two trips (so far) planned for this year, with another two next year.
(Mr. bowtiesarecool is an extremely patient and understanding soul.)
I like commando-style touring, I have been known to pass up roller coasters in favor of another turn on a creaky animatronic attraction (Carousel of Progress or go home!), I can go rope-drop to close fueled on a horrific combination of coffee and Mickey-shaped foods, and I pretty much never leave a park until an hour after closing, when cast members start clearing their throats meaningfully while I adjust my tripod one more time. I love split stays and exploring resorts. Mr. bowtiesarecool has about four hours of park time in him a day before he turns into a pumpkin. When we spend time together on Disney trips, it's usually in the hotel pool or restaurants.
In part because my touring style is so offputting to normal humans with biological needs like sleep and bathroom breaks, I really enjoy solo trips. I've squeezed in trips to both coasts when I'm already on the road for business, and I've got the next one of those coming up for the final weekend of Star Wars Weekends. I bought my very first Annual Pass after admitting that I was powerless over my Disney parks addiction, so I'm looking forward to putting some miles on that. This will be my first Star Wars Weekend, first visit to a Disney water park, and first stay at a value resort (POP, if you're wondering).
We're going back together in November - we'll hit the very last Friday of this year's Food and Wine, leave for a week on our first Disney cruise, and then spend a few more days at the Boardwalk Villas, which we loved last year. And next year, I'm hoping to get the Coast-to-Coast with the Star Wars Half and the Princess Half.
Nice to meet everyone! The forums have been a great resource in planning amazing trips and in getting me totally obsessed. Looking forward to making some similarly-obsessed friends - because there are only so many times my meatspace friends and family are willing to listen to this before they go, "Disney? AGAIN?" I swear, I go other places too.
