Long Beach Disney Seas

I'm guessing that everyone has had a chance to read Hill's articles on the legendary Disney Sea that was to be built in Long Beach.
http://www.jimhillmedia.com/ (Just in case you haven't seen it.)

Like many of you I've heard and read little snipits about this unbuilt park for years. This is probably the most detail I have ever seen about it in one place.

The one thought that came to me was would this version of Disney Seas have worked?
Keeping in mind that there is still not a lot of detail about the actual attractions.
Was this park going to be too educational?
Is this why OLC liked the concept but wanted it changed to be more like a traditional themepark?

I think the OLC was right. Great idea, but let's make it fun with attractions and Indy and Ariel. Leave the eduation aspect behind.
I agree with the OLC, people come to themeparks to escape, not to get lectured (kind of a sad statement in some ways, but I believe to be true).

So what's your opinion? Would Disney Seas Long Beach have worked?

It did seem to be way too educational. I wouldn't mind those things along with fun rides. I think Jim Hill's article left out a lot of info on the rides. You can see in the pictures the volcano that ended up in Japan and you can see artwork for Paradise Pier which ended up at DCA.

I agree. The details of rides were pretty slim.
I'm sure Mysterious Island would have been cool (but wasn't Nemo's lava cruisers just a simulator?) but no JTTCOTE or 20K. We all know how most people feel about Paradise Pier @ DCA  .
Oceana? Looks really cool, but repeat value? I wonder.
Same with the Future Research Center? Again, pretty cool but not my thing more than once.
There are rides mentioned for Fleets of Fantasy & Heroes Harbor that Jim doesn't go into. But it still seems like alot of Edutainment, which didn't really work out at Epcot.
And don't get me started about having to bring a bathing suit to a themepark.
