Living, Working, Breathing the Mouse

Hi guys! This is my first post and I have super high hopes as to what the outcome will be.

I am currently a 24 year old female. I did the disney college program in 2011 and unfortunately, due to health issues-had to leave early. (May 2011-Aug 2011).

I am finally almost in a position to leave dreaded CT and come back to my beloved FL. But I wanted to ask some questions ahead of time.

I won't be able to get there until sometime between sept and jan. so we have 6months at the earliest. But I am a planner and want so badly to be prepared.

Living: I am a single woman and want to feel safe when I go home. The problem is, I don't know how much money I will be making and I need it to be affordable. So what are the best areas to live in as a single female?

Working: I'm lookiing for complete honesty here. I know what I was paid as a CP there and that would never ever cover the cost of living there. So, is it possible to work a bank job somewhere (maybe even disney) and then work part time and make enough to over all expenses? A friend that works there says there is never a shortage of hours, but there is such thing as working too much. i don't want to be burning the candle at both ends so to speak, but I want to be able to live comfortably per say.

Any advice would be great! Thank you in advance!!!!!!!!

A lot of CM's afford to live here by having roommates. Of course, unfortunately rent prices are skyrocketing around Orlando so I'm not even sure how much longer that will be a viable option.

I agree - rent prices for a single occupant would be high in central FL, especially on a Disney income. I do understand the desire to live without roommates. :)

I would recommend finding a higher paying, non-Disney job initially, or even in addition to your future Disney job. Work out a budget and see how much income both jobs would bring in. Then work that into a monthly rent you could afford. It can be done, depending on how much your other job would pay.

I would have a non-Disney job lined up so that you earn enough to cover your living expenses, bills, etc. and then work on getting a PT job at Disney which allows for a bit of fun money and you'd get to take advantage of the CM perks. My friend works FT at Everest and is only making $9.50/hour...that's not enough to cover rent and utilities...let alone anything else.
