List of Conventions at WDW Resorts?

I was booking my hotel for the Food and Wine Festival and one weekend in October was WAY cheaper than the others in October and November. The only thing I could think of was that there were some conventions going on those weekends which drove the price of hotel rooms up (since there were less of them).

Is there a place that I can check to see what conventions are at which resorts? This would help with checking the volume of crowds at the parks too. Would Disney publish this type of information? :veryconfu

No, Disney does not publish that information. It is confidential. Most conventions take place Sunday-Tuesday or Thursday-Saturday. They typically do not stay on the weekends.

All resort room pricing is set about 6 months advance for the following year, and does not fluxuate based on current booking trends or volume. All rack rate pricing for 2006 was released on or before 6/30/05. All rack rate pricing for 2007 was released on or before 5/28/06. Disney may release special discount marketing offers from time to time to help fill rooms, but our full price rack rates do not change once released.

The most likely explination for the price difference you encountered was the season change on October 5th. Value Season for all Disney Resorts goes through 10/4/06. Regular Season begins 10/5/06 and goes through 11/25/06. Value Season returns 11/26/06 and goes through 12/19/06, followed by Holiday Season 12/20/06 - 12/31/06.

For the security and privacy of all our Guest, Disney does not release any Guest information to the general public. Knowing when conventions are at our resorts will not aid in knowing guest levels at our theme parks. Most convention Guests are here to enjoy their group activities and events, and do not significately affect park guest levels up or down. If large groups do plan on park visits as a major part of their stay, the group often will rent the parks for private events after hours.
